Sonnet to Green. By Jo-Ann Hughes
Buds are bursting to blue skies;
strands of green poke in white snow,
an arc, separating dull brown tries,
a boarder where spring flowers grow.
Yellow sun reaches cold earth;
fronds of green fun bathe in winter dawn,
red ovals fatten in lights’ morn search,
as darkness gives way to life new born.
Sun faces open fields of grass;
rays welcoming joy of being back,
gold brown birds dance en masse,
while grey gulls tease a raven black.
The silent sounds of peace on earth
Greet green in greater songs of birth.
Has depth and is finely written. Love the simple threading of colour throughout.
