I Stand

I stand admiring rosy flesh
A deep red bloom that glows so fresh.
Silken skin blushing bright
Vulnerable velvet in my sight.
With purple hues and brush of blue
Saturate in sun and season’s dew.
Many are you amongst the one
chosen for new life to come.
Satiate this starve’d soul
and guzzle from your naked bowl.
One bite of flesh eyes open wide
as death screams out my endless lie.
I tore at you
and clawed you through
til gratified with gorge’d smile
I laughed a’loud and watched you die.
Now stand I smirking at cold flesh
a life laid down gives way to death.
Triumphant roar rips heaven wide
As Son of Man was crucified.
Finished now with all hope gone,
the King of kings, He rose again.
With radiant look ransomed all of life
as I screamed out to sacrifice.
He gazed at me and took my hand
Thrust fingers in his wounded side.
‘Feed on my flesh and drink my blood
new life in me will do you good.’
In shame I kneel at rosy flesh
As love from Him finds sweet caress.
A visceral read - very emotionally charged
