A Sonnet Embracing Despair.
I embraced you when you looked at me
with eyes that silently spoke of wrong
for I was the offering you could clearly see
as you bowed your head with wounded song.
You drew me to your place of pain
and let me touch your bleeding wound
your tears they fell like silent rain
as I gathered you to my secret womb.
Where all was safe, and snug and warm
a place you grew and learnt to smile
until you turned and left me torn
holding despair for quite a while.
Love given freely is an offering
interwoven with much suffering.
Heartfelt and heartbreaking - the first two lines are extremely powerful - it’s very direct, openly challenging the reader
